Alderman Railcar Services Inc. will invest $3.5
million to open a repair and fabrication shop for railcars
in the Charlotte County Industrial Park in Keysville.
The new facility will create 110 jobs. (News release)
Gates Corp., a Denver-based manufacturer of rubber
automotive and industrial products, will invest $8 million
in its first Virginia facility. The plant will be located
in Highlands Business Park , a joint development of Smyth
and Washington counties. The project will create 172
jobs. Virginia competed with Tennessee for the investment. (News

Rheingold GmbH, a German-based
manufacturer of laminated materials for staircase renovation,
opened a distribution center and headquarters for its
U.S. subsidiary, Rheingold Inc., in the Byrd Center Business
