Goodman & Company, a Norfolk-based accounting firm, will merge with West Crawley & Winn of Chester . Both West Crawley and Goodman’s Colonial Heights office have three partners in residence and 20 staff members. (News release)

Hiilb Rogal & Hobbs Company, a Richmond insurance broker, acquired Global Special Risks LLC of Houston, a wholesale broker and general agency for the energy and non-marine property fields, as well as The Urman Company, a Denver-based retail employee benefits, property and casualty brokerage. Melchionna, Day, Ammar & Black, a Roanoke law firm with seven attorneys, will merge with Spilman, Thomas & Battle, a Charleston, W.Va.-based firm with 102 attorneys. The union will take advantage of both firms’ growing client base in the Mid-Atlantic region. The combined firm will do business as Melchionna, Day, Ammar & Black. (News release)

Bertram Capital, an equity capital firm in Palo Alto , Calif. , bought Power Distribution Inc., a provider of power monitoring and switching equipment, headquartered in Richmond . Power Distribution employs approximately 100 workers and will remain in Richmond. (News release)
