LevelVision LLC, a provider of digital advertising displays headquartered in Roanoke, made a two-year agreement with Source 4 of Roanoke, a producer of point-of-purchase ad displays, to sell LevelVision’s floor and countertop multimedia ad displays to a variety of businesses, including grocery stores, convenience markets and specialty retailers. MicroStrategy Inc., a McLean-based provider of business intelligence software, reached a deal with Sears Holdings, parent company of Kmart and Sears, Roebuck and Co., to provide data management platforms for a variety of needs, including analysis of sales, and management of inventory store operations. TMEIC GE, a Salem-based joint venture between Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric and General Electric, agreed to provide JSW Steel Limited of India with an electrical and automation system for $80 million. The system is destined for a new mill in Karnataka India. (News release)

Virginia Commonwealth University received a five-year, $10.7 million grant from the National Cancer Institute for development of radiation therapy incorporating predictive image analysis for safer, more aggressive cancer treatments. (News release)

The Virginia Port Authority received $3 million in grant funds from the Department of Homeland Security to upgrade security at its three marine terminals. Projects to be funded include enhanced video and data networks; a “smart” perimeter system and updates to worker identification standards. (News release)
