Leonard C. Anderson, named senior vice president and director of technology resources, LandAmerica Financial Group Inc., Richmond. Anderson began his career with IBM in 1964 and will lead exploration of emerging technologies in support of companywide IT solutions. (News release)

Edward L. Ayers, elected president of the University of Richmond. Ayers is dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. A graduate of the University of Tennessee with post-graduate study at Yale, Ayers is noted as one of America's leading scholars on the Civil War. He will take office on July 1. (News release)
