AES Corp., an Arlington-based energy company,
bought two 230-megawatt power generating stations in
Tamulin,
Mexico
from subsidiaries of Exelon Corp. and ALSTOM for $611
million, including assumption of debt. The plants are
petroleum coke-fired operations, a technology AES helped
pioneer in the 1990s. (BUSINESS WIRE)
Cadmus Communications Corp., a Richmond commercial
printer, purchased two printing facilities owned by LexisNexis
in Charlottesville and Conklin, N.Y. Cadmus intends to
expand its market in legal publishing through a five-year
deal under which it will provide substantially all printing
services for LexisNexis, a research and printing firm. (

Hilb Rogal &
Hobbs Company, a risk management broker headquartered
in Richmond, bought Investigative Solutions Inc. of Atlanta,
a provider of high-level risk management and consulting
services, which had 2006 revenues of $1.5 million. (News

Hooker Furniture of
Martinsville purchased Sam Moore Furniture Industries of
Bedford, a manufacturer of upholstered furniture, from
La-Z-Boy. Hooker originally began as a manufacturer but
has transitioned into importing and marketing imported
furniture. The deal for Sam Moore will allow the company
to diversify into fabric upholstery market. (The

Milcom Systems Corp. of
Virginia Beach, a provider of electronic and communications
systems for defense clients, agreed to be bought by VT
Group, a defense services firm based in
Southampton,
England
. VT will pay $425. million for
Milcom which has 800 employees in the
U.S.
and annual revenues exceeding $100 million. The firm
is expected to operate as VT Milcom and no changes are
foreseen for its 340 employees in Hampton Roads. (The
