Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, a heath insurance
company owned by Wellpoint Inc. of Indianapolis, laid off 30 IT employees in Richmond,
approximately 1 percent of its Richmond
work force. The move was made as part of an efficiency
effort, but the company is attempting to place the
employees at other positions in the company. Those
who do not stay with Anthem will receive severance

International Textiles Group announced plans
to close the Burlington Worldwide plant in Hurt by
spring 2007. Production is being moved from Hurt to North Carolina facilities in a move to consolidation production. Some
employees may receive transfers; others will be offered
