Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., operator of theme parks and a resort in the Williamsburg area,  plans to donate $2.25 million toward Jamestown 2007, Virginia's celebration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the colony. The company's donation includes $1.75 million in cash and $500,000 worth of marketing and in-kind services. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Steve Case, co-founder of Internet services provider America Online, joined forces with the husband-and-wife tennis stars Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf for development of high-end tennis facilities and additional resort sites for Case's Exclusive Resorts, a group of luxury vacation destinations with 38 worldwide locations. BB&T Corp., a Winston-Salem, N.C. banking company, plans to merge its banking subsidiaries BB&T of Virginia and BB&T of South Carolina into one unit, Branch Banking and Trust Co., to be headquartered in Winston-Salem. The company expects the consolidation to lower operating costs, improve efficiency and reduce regulatory burden of operating three subsidiaries. (PRNewswire)

Northrop Grumman Information Technology, a McLean-based provider of software solutions, received a contract from the Department of Homeland Security to provide engineering support in establishing quantitative requirements for wireless communications among emergency response organizations. Owens & Minor Inc., a Richmond distributor of medical and surgical supplies, signed a new five-year agreement with Broadlane, a Dallas-based provider of hospital services, to continue providing Broadlane hospital clients with medical and surgical distributions services. (News release)

The Virginia Port Authority received $2.3 million in port security grants from the Department of Homeland Security for enhancements at its marine terminals in Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport News. Another $1.3 million will go to other entities in the Hampton Roads area, such as the city of Norfolk and TransMontaigne Product Services Inc. The funds are part of $168 million distributed to 51 ports nationwide. (The Virginian-Pilot)
