Byron Siliezar, VP and CFO of NII Holdings of Reston, a provider of business communication services in Latin America, was named recipient of the International Stevie Award for Best Financial Executive. The company also received honors for Best Business Turnaround. The Stevies are presented as part of the first annual International Business Awards. (Press release)

Advance Auto Parts, a Roanoke-based retailer of automotive parts, received recognition for its organizational development and training programs by being named to Training magazine’s Training Top 100 list. The company was 54th on the list and also received second place in Best in Class Retail category. (Press release)

CarMax and LandAmerica Financial Group, both of Richmond, broke into Fortune magazine’s Fortune 500 list of largest American companies for the first time. CarMax debuted at 435 and LandAmerica at 483. A total of 18 Virginia-based firms made the list. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
