M&H Plastics, a British manufacturer of plastic bottles, caps and tubes for the personal care market, plans to locate a facility in Frederick County. The $12 million investment in the company’s first U.S. plant is expected to create 57 jobs. Virginia competed with Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland and Canada for the project. (01/23/04. MasterBrands Cabinets, the second-largest cabinet manufacturer in North America based in Jasper, Ind., announced plans to locate a manufacturing facility in Henry County. The multi-million dollar investment is expected to create 700 jobs over seven years. The project is the largest economic development announcement made in Southside Virginia in almost 30 years. Laufen Ceramic Tile, a unit of Spain’s Roca-Laufen, a manufacturer of sanitaryware, announced plans to establish a 92,000-sqaure-foot center in Suffolk for importing and distributing ceramic tile products. The investment of $1 million will create six jobs. (12/31/03, Daily Press)

Global Contract Services, a provider of customer contact services, agreed to locate a contact center in Pulaski. The $1.3 million investment creates more than 300 jobs. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia for the investment. (12/23/03, Press release)
