LandAmerica Financial Group, a provider of real estate transaction services headquartered in Richmond, purchased The Closing Company, a Charlottesville title insurance firm. (04/21/04, Press release)

Albemarle, a Richmond-based specialty chemicals company, purchased the refinery catalysts business of the Dutch company Akzo Nobel NV. The transaction, about $753 million in cash, expands the range of products the company can offer the oil industry. LandAmerica Financial, a Richmond-based provider of real estate transaction services, purchased Taos Title of Taos, New Mexico, to enhance its presence in the Southwestern United States. (04/06/04, Press release)
