WorldCom, an Ashburn-based telecommunications company, emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization—triggered by $35 billion in debt— and officially became MCI Inc. The company has done business under MCI informally for about a year. (04/19/04, The Washington Post)

Ingenco Wholesale Power, a subsidiary of Richmond’s Industrial Power Generating Corp., received approval from the State Corporation Commission to build a 16-megawatt power plant at the Shoosmith Brothers Landfill in Chesterfield County.
