James F. Garrett, president and CEO of SENTEL Corp., an Alexandria systems engineering company, was selected as an inductee into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame. Garrett is an alumnus of North Carolina A&T State University. (Press release)

MicroStrategy, a software firm based in McLean, won two readership awards from DM Review, a specialty publication serving the business intelligence market, in a study of DM Review’s readers to determine the top technology companies in the business intelligence field. Virginia Tech’s Apple-based supercomputer, X, ranked No. 3 among the world’s supercomputers in survey results released at the SuperComputing 2003 conference held in Phoenix.
