Atlantic Coast Airlines (ACA), a regional air service provider based in Dulles, received approval from members of the Air Line Pilots Association, International, to modify the working contract of the pilots union. The new agreement, which includes changes to pay structure and work rules, plus a profit-sharing plan, was sought in order to facilitate establishment of a new independent airline by ACA to be based at Washington-Dulles International Airport. Norfolk Southern Railway Co. and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers reached a new working agreement to run through 2009. The agreement provides engineers with an annual bonus opportunity based on the same financial performance criteria used for management. (PRNewswire)

Starband Communications, a McLean-based provider of satellite-based high-speed Internet services headquartered in McLean, received approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware to emerge from Chapter 11 protection.
