Lee Danielson, a California
real estate developer, announced plans to build
a nine-story hotel at the site of the former Boxer
Learning building on Charlottesville’s Downtown
Mall. The high-end boutique hotel will have fewer
than 100 rooms and be situated above a new bistro.

Macaulay & Burtch,
launched a new law firm in Richmond. Principals
Alexander M. Macaulay and Jack W. Burtch Jr.
lead an office of five lawyers and three lobbyists
focusing on employment, health care, insurance
defense, contracts, commercial litigation and
governmental affairs. Under their business model,
lawyers will run their own practices and bill

AG of Erland Germany, announced plans to
establish U.S. headquarters in Loudoun County.
The firm develops, produces and markets laser
systems for the medical field and industrial
applications. The $5 million investment will
create 30 jobs. Virginia competed with Illinois
