AMF Bowling Worldwide, a Mechanicsville-based owner and operator of bowling centers, reached agreement to be acquired by Code Hennessy & Simmons of Chicago, a private equity firm, for approximately $650 million. AMF has more than 600 employees in the Richmond area, no plans were announced about layoffs or the possibility of moving operations. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Rutherfoord, an insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firm, acquired Huggins, Faulkner and Flynn, an environmental risk consulting firm based in Roanoke. The acquisition, Rutherfoord’s first in 87 years of operation, allows the firm to provide a full range of property management strategies. (Press release)

SI International, a Reston information technology company, acquired MATCOM International Corp., an engineering solutions firm based in Alexandria. The acquisition broadens SI’s customer base and strengthens the company’s range of services for federal government clients. (PR Newswire)

Union Bankshares of Bowling Green, a banking and financial services company, and Guaranty Financial Corp., a financial services provider in the Charlottesville area, agreed to a merger, valued at $54 million in stock and cash. The deal will give Union Bankshares total assets of $1.5 billion, making it the second-largest banking company headquartered in Virginia. (PR Newswire)
